I am the a current District Councillor for Chipping Norton and Deputy Leader of the District Council’s Labour group. I was born, raised and educated in West Oxfordshire, and it is still my home. As a mother of two, I understand the struggles many local families face. I have fought against the Conservative cuts to public services, particularly to the NHS and our Children's Centres. Having worked in both the NHS and for Thames Valley Police, I have thirteen years of experience in public service.
In place of the now closed and sorely missed family centre, a few groups have started up. This is despite a huge cut from the Tory Council to help them. I will do everything I can to support these groups and the families they work with.
* Road Works - Like many residents I have been so frustrated by the months of continuous works that have made our main roads congested and slow - and made the road safety and air quality problems in Chipping Norton all the more acute. I am working on a Labour environment improvement plan for the town that I hope to put in place over the next few years * Universal Credit - Reviewing the new Universal Credit service and its impact on residents in Chipping Norton has been an important focus. I have and will continue to, work with WODC officers and Guildhall staff to ensure the impact is as small as possible and that we are doing all we can to make the service accessible. * Childcare - The Ace Centre is thriving and incredibly busy across the three outstanding rated childcare settings. I have recently become more involved in the Ace Centre as a governor and will continue to support its fund raising efforts.
