Chippy NHS Campaign Continues

Campaigners were out again today campaigning in Chipping Norton to defend the NHS and stop threatened cuts at Chipping Norton War Memorial Community Hospital and at the Horton General Hospital, Banbury.  Cllr Geoff Saul was joined by nurse Sharon Akers, UNISON Oxon Health NHS Foundation Trust Convenor‎, and Labour members and supporters to gather more signatures on the petition to Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group to:-

  • Keep open the Cotswold Maternity Unit at CN Hospital
  • Retain A&E and Obstetric Services at the Horton
  • Return the intermediate care beds at CN Hospital to the NHS

“People in Chippy and the surrounding villages are angry about the threatened cuts at their hospital, especially the option put forward by the CCG for the potential closure of the Cotswolds Maternity Unit” said Cllr Saul.  “Over 350 residents have now signed the petition I have launched to protect NHS services for Chipping Norton area”.  Sharon Akers stated, “I was delighted to lend my support to Cllr Saul today, who is the only candidate in the forthcoming County Council Election on 4 May truly standing up in defence of all NHS services and our members jobs in this area”.
