Rosa Bolger urges Lib Dems to stand down

Labour’s Rosa Bolger Welcomes Green Standing Down for Progressive Alliance, Urges Third Place Lib Dems to do the Same

Welcoming the decision of the Greens to stand down in Witney Constituency, Councillor Rosa Bolger, Labour and Co-operative Candidate in the General Election, said:

“Most people who want to see the Brexit-obsessed Conservatives defeated in this Election will welcome the decision of the Greens to stand down. I now urge the Liberal Democrats, who came third in the last General Election and fourth in 2015 to step aside. Only Labour can beat the Conservatives in Witney Constituency.

“I am the first ever woman leader on Labour-run Witney Town Council, and as a Councillor on West Oxfordshire District, I am immersed in the issues that concern our residents: long waits for GP appointments, huge class sizes and overworked teachers, empty shops on our high streets, and dreadful traffic on our roads. As a councillor I led the campaign to Save Cogges Surgery. I  chaired the first Climate Emergency public meeting in Witney and I know as your MP I can make a difference all year round as part of a reforming and radical Labour Government.

“As someone who has always campaigned to Remain in Europe, I want to see a close relationship with our EU neighbours to protect jobs and rights.  We recognise the need to give the people of Witney a final say on a new deal which Labour will negotiate. We have the ideas and energy to transform our country through and beyond Brexit.”
